The wool4build project is a project funded by the European Union within the framework of the environmental program “Cip Eco-Innovation” and its main objective has been to develop a thermal and acoustic insulation material based on recycled sheep wool, and which could be able to compete in the market with most common mineral insulation materials, both on technical features as well as on the economic profile. In the construction sector, as well as in many other sectors, is always an increasing demand for new more environmentally friendly products and which keep as much as possible their natural characteristics. Today, in the insulation sector there, we can find different types of materials and technical solutions. Beside the most common mineral insulation, there are a variety of natural and sustainable ones attempting to claim their space in the world market. In most cases these organic materials have very interesting technical features but are harshly penalized in the market by having to compete with materials manufactured on a large scale and which can be placed on the market at a competitive price.

Wool4build wants to be the natural insulator with high performance and competitive prices

What are the advantages of natural sheep wool insulation?

Environmental benefits

Sheep wool used for the manufacture of Wool4build material is a 100% recycled wool and can be later recovered in the demolition or renovation of buildings to reincorporate back into the manufacturing cycle of new panels. It contributes thus to reducing the consumption of non-renewable and solid construction waste resources. Furthermore, production of panels Wool4build requires only 25% of the energy used for the preparation of the most common minerals insulators as glass wool or rock wool.

Comfort benefits

Due to the hygroscopic property of wool, the insulating WOOL4BUILD, is also an excellent moisture regulator, i.e. it absorbs water vapor in a humid atmosphere and loses it in a dry one favouring internal comfort at home; this way we take advantage of the intrinsic characteristics of this raw material. Being a totally natural material, sheep wool poses no risk for health during the installation process nor the passing of time.
